Hello and Welcome

 

First off if your reading this and it sounds similar to another blog well that's because I can't seem to remember that account information and have to start over. Its a little bit irritating, but what can you do these things happen. I haven't used it in over two years, so I shouldn't be surprised. On a positive note this gives me a chance to revamp my blogs and keep my YouTube and blog on the same email account which will be useful. Who knows I might even create my own website in the future, but that is a concept to think and plan for since they are expense and I am only starting out.

No matter if you remember my old blog the content will remain the same, and since I have hard copies of my posts I can retype them and repost them so they can be read and reach new viewers and help expand my audience. My plans for my blog hasn’t change. I will continue to make content about all things Girly Geeky and Pagan. Now without further adieu let me reintroduce myself.

 

My name is Amber. I am aware that it’s a rather odd combination of being girly geeky and pagan, but here I am. You may ask well how can you be in to the material world if you consider your self pagan which is normally a more spiritually focused path. Well that’s easy we live in a material world and being completely spiritual is virtually impossible. It would basically require taking a vow of poverty and living as a hermit in a cave only eating what you can hunt or harvest, not wearing clothes or sleeping with pillows or blankets, and well the list is quite long and if I were to list out everything this paragraph would be too long.  The problem comes in when that’s is all we see.

 

Now I should also note that I am fairly new to participating in the online community as more than just a watcher. I am not a very outgoing person, so pretending to be so wouldn't be doing me any favors because it would just be trying to be something I’m not and that is not what I want this community to be about. An online community should be about a group of people coming together based on a common interest or interests. I have been online for most of my life , but I haven't really seen a community like the one I am trying to built and let me tell you it isn't as easy as it looks especially when you fit into a niche like the one I fit into. 

 

In the beauty community you see a lot of people posting tutorials and videos using higher end brands and quite frankly I don't like most of them. I prefer drugstore stuff especially now that you can find so many cruelty free and natural products there. This has been helpful since about two years ago I made the conscious choice to live a more harm free life. I switched to a vegetarian diet and decided to not buy products tested on animals. Now that being said I didn’t just throw away what I had and went out and bought new stuff I waited until I needed to repurchase something and then I went and bought the cruelty free replacement.

 

This choice wasn't easy to make and its not for everyone. Its taken me over 10 years to be ready for it. I started down this path when I was 13 years old. Becoming vegetarian isn't something that happens overnight. It’s a journey that requires knowledge and effort in order for it to be done right. Ill touch on this more in a future blog post. I will mention however that my religion did play a part in my decision.

 

Now I consider my self pagan.  I do believe in the Wiccan Rede, well at least the part most people are similar with,  An it harm none do what ye will. That being said I don't believe taking shit or in other words defend your self if need be. I just don't believe in causing unnessariary harm because you will always be harming something no matter what you do. In our modern world its impossible not to.

 

But wait I thought you also said you were a geek? Its true I am. Then how come you haven't talked about it yet? Well I have in a way geeks don’t just have to be obsessed with things like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Doctor Who or Star Trek, although I do lets not lie, they can also be geeky about things like religion or even make and fashion.  I consider these things separate and yet they interconnect. There may be times when I go through phases when I want to focus on one thing over the others, but they are all still present in my soul. Just because I might appear to be more in my girly content at times doesn't make me less of a geek or vice versa. Or say I'm more into my paganism content it doesn't make me less materialistic and more spiritual you can be both.  That’s the beauty of being human. We are not the sum of our parts.
